Running along the beach-way is a popular daily activity in Santa Barbara. Join the locals in "Nite Moves" every Wednesday evening throughout the summer   (meets at Leadbetter Beach). Every August, the annual triathlon event is one of Santa Barbara's special sporting events.

Stearns Wharf The most prominent attraction on Santa Barbara's waterfront is Stearns Wharf, located just 0.8 of a mile from your West Beach Vacation Condo. Stearns Wharf's is the oldest & longest wooden wharf in California. The Wharf is home to a number of great restaurants, unusual shops and handy services.  It is considered by many to be the number one visitor attraction in Santa Barbara.

Sunset & Paraglider Viewing

Butterfly Beach is one of the few west-facing beaches so you can see a sunset over the water! It is also a paraglider landing site.  Bring your lunch and water and sunscreen because there are no public facilities at this beach. It's a real locals kind of place.  
Directions: Take the 101 south to Olive Mill in Montecito. Take a right at the top of the exit and follow it around until you reach the beach on your left. Parking is limited.

Visitor Center

The Outdoors Santa Barbara Visitor Center, on the 4th floor at 113 Harbor Way, is your source for a wealth of information about the Channel Islands National Park, the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, the Los Padres National Forest, and the city of Santa Barbara.  It is located less than a mile from West Beach Vacation Condo in the bustling Waterfront of Santa Barbara's working harbor. The visitor center offers one of the best views of the city, beaches, harbor, mountains, wharf and islands.

Stepping inside the visitor center there are interpretive displays about Chumash culture, Spanish explorers, Missionaries and American Ranchers. Also on view is a spectacular mosaic tiled floor showing the Channel Islands and the Marine Sanctuary, the Rainbow Bridge legend and flowers native to the islands. Numerous free brochures and reference materials about the forest, park, sanctuary and the city of Santa Barbara are available for the visitor. The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 11am until 5pm. Calling 805-884-1475 in advance is recommended. Access is by elevator inside the building.
