The Carriage and Western Art Museum of Santa Barbara was founded in 1972 and
is located in Pershing Park near the waterfront in Santa Barbara, CA.
This unique museum containing a collection of over 50 saddles once belonging
to famous people, such as Cisco Kid, Will Rogers, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart
and many others, over 75 vehicles used by early pioneers, and more.

Step back
in time to the 1930’s in California and experience the lifestyle of the
Steedman family, the sole owners of this 11-acre estate for more than 75
years. Visitors have a chance to tour the home, designed in the 1920’s
by acclaimed local architect George Washington Smith in the Spanish
Colonial Revival style, the surrounding gardens and workshop. Casa del
Herrero’s 11-acre estate is open for public tours from mid-February to
mid-November. 90 minute Docent-led tours for adults and children, age 10
and above, are available Wednesdays AND Saturdays at 10 a.m. AND 2 p.m.
Admission: $15. Tours for organized groups of 10 or more are available
other days. To schedule a tour or request a

Museum's Astronomy Programs include the Gladwin Planetarium, Space Lab,
Palmer Observatory, Star Parties, and outreach activities. The Gladwin
Planetarium is the only planetarium on the Central Coast that features
live, multimedia shows. You can see the night sky or fly through space
to the other side of the galaxy.

The official literature calls Mission Santa Barbara "Queen of the Missions for its graceful beauty." Founded on December 4th, 1786, it was the tenth of 21 Franciscan missions in California. It still functions as a church today. Self-guided tours daily 9am-5pm. Docent tours for schools and other groups are arranged by appointment. The tours are $4.00 for adults and begin in the gift shop.

The Santa
Barbara Botanic Garden is a place of beauty and serenity, of education,
research and conservation, of history and stewardship. We welcome you to
visit and enjoy our exquisite exhibits of California native plants set
in beautifully designed landscapes. Join our docents for guided
tours offered every day of the week at no charge with Garden admission
or membership.
Seasonal Nature Walks are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00
a.m., and seven days a week at 2:00 p.m. This general tour is
variable and focuses on the plants in bloom during each season.
Participants learn about Native American uses of plants, the
interactions of plants and animals, local geology, and the history of
the Garden.

This
historic 1929 Spanish-Moorish structure is one of the most beautiful
buildings in the U.S. Its meticulously maintained sunken gardens and
spacious lawns have become a popular site for special events. Visitors
may see this working courthouse any time during the business day (8am to
5pm M-F) or during the weekends (10am to 4:30pm). Gardens are open
8:00 a.m. to Sunset. Docent lead tours occur daily (except Sunday)
at 2pm beginning in the Mural Room and are free. Additional tours occur
at 10:30am Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Rates: Free day use for
general activities. Fees apply for group area reservations.

Santa Barbara Historical Museum

This museum features both permanent and changing exhibits that share Santa Barbara's colorful past from the Native American age to modern times. It also offers an extensive holdings of books, photographs, maps, and manuscripts. The library is a rich resource for the study of regional history. The Historical Society also has two historic homes tours: Fernald Mansion
(tours every Saturday at 1pm and 2pm) and Trussell-Winchester Adobe (tours
every Saturday from 1 pm - 3 pm and Sunday 12 pm - 5 pm). Adults $5.00,

Museum in Santa Barbara in 2006, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History
is located just behind the Old Mission. In addition to our ten exhibit halls
and Gladwin Planetarium, our 11-acre creek-side campus features wonderful
outdoor learning opportunities such as the Mission Creek Nature Trail and
Sukinanik’oy Garden of native plants used by the Chumash Indians. Our public
programs offered throughout the year encourage understanding and
appreciation of the many facets of the natural world. Film series, music and
dance performances, culinary programs, lectures and panel discussions, and
Native American programs provide unique perspectives on nature and native

The Santa
Barbara Zoo is dedicated to the preservation, conservation and
enhancement of the natural world and its living treasures through
education, research and recreation. An average Zoo visit lasts 2.5
hours; but many guests spend a half day meandering the grounds, taking
in the Pacific Ocean views, and enjoying a picnic lunch or dinner after
visiting the animals. If you're short on time, our Zoo Map highlights
the "Must-See" exhibits. Also, be sure to check out the Visitor Kiosk

The South
Coast Railroad museum features the Goleta Depot which is a
Victorian-styled Southern Pacific Railroad station, built in 1901 by the
Southern Pacific Railroad. The historical landmark and architectural
treasure is located at picturesque Lake Los Carneros County Park.
The museum features refurnished rooms and station grounds, and a variety
of informative displays, hands-on exhibits, artifacts, photographs, and
memorabilia. The museum hours are: 1 to 4 pm (11 am to 4 pm during the
summer). Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission free; donations are
requested.

One of the largest displays
of dolls and teddy bears as well as the largest known research library
of related books in the world. Only 3,000 of the collection's historical
and contemporary dolls and teddy bears from around the world are on
display in the museum’s three galleries. Many of the pieces are one of a
kind creations or limited editions by some of the world’s leading doll
and teddy bear artists. Some areas of emphasis are ethnic groups which
settled California, dolls and teddy bears related to books, and much
more.
